-Winter Tree Pruning –
Winter is a great time to prune your trees. It is much easier to assess the structure of your trees once the trees have shed their leaves. Pruning should focus mainly on removing deadwood and crossing or rubbing branches. Equally spaced scaffolding branches will be ready to produce leaves in the spring. Pruning can also achieve goals for the homeowner such as allowing in more sunlight and clearing branches away from a house. Selective pruning allows us to improve the tree’s health, structure and personal goals. Winter tree pruning also allows us to prune while the tree is dormant. At this time the tree is not using its energy to grow leaves, flowers or fruit.
