Types of Tree Pruning Services Available – Solid Tree Care offers several tree pruning services depending on your goals and the needs of the tree. Here is a list of some of the different types of tree pruning.
Crown Thinning – Thin out the leaf canopy (up to 1/3) by selectively thinning and removing branches evenly spaced throughout a tree’s crown. Benefits of thinning out the leaf canopy include better airflow and light penetration. Good airflow reduces the “windsail” effect on a tree. Removing some foliage mass reduces the branch resistance (sail effect). This allows for the wind to pass through the tree more easily. Light penetration can improve the health of the tree and the plants below and allow more sunlight on your property.
Crown cleaning – This tree care service removes deadwood and damaged branches. This improves the health of the tree and prevents decay from spreading. Crown cleaning is often recommended, particularly if broken branches are hanging high in the canopy or large dead branches are located over valuable targets.
Prune for structure – Removing any crossing or rubbing branches. Remove any structural defects such as co-dominant stem. This will shape how the tree will grow and help to prevent future problems.
Tree trimming – Selectively remove branches or cut the length of branches. This is done to clear branches away from objects such as a house or wires. Benefits include improved safety for your home. Tree trimming can be used to removing heavy branches from over your house or remove branches rubbing your roof, siding, and gutters. Tree trimming can be used to solve a lot of the issues that arise from of having trees in the urban environment.
